A Day in the Life of a Cougar Fan
There was
10 seconds left on the clock, the Cougars were in victory formation, and at
that point all of us U of H fans knew we had secured the win. It had been a
long season of football full of rain, sweat, tears, and a lot of nail-biting
endings, but it was finally worth it; The Cougars won the AAC Conference Championship!
As my mom,
dad, sister, and I celebrated the exciting win with all of the other Cougar
fans, we noticed a few students jumping over the railing and rushing the field.
Before we knew it, everyone in the stands started following them, and a sea of
red and white began to form on the field. Being alums, my dad and sister knew
this was an opportunity they couldn't pass up, and being since it looked like
such good time, I figured why not join them? We made our way down the stands,
jumped over the concrete ledge, and sprinted down to the stage where the
championship trophy was going to be presented. At this point, security was
going crazy, confetti was flying everywhere, and grown men (including my dad)
were acting like little girls that just saw Justin Bieber, as the players
walked out. It couldn't have been more perfect. The sense of pride and
accomplishment was so strong, you could feel the entire Houston community
becoming more unified. Being a part of such a monumental moment like that is
definitely something I’ll
never forget.
